Emergency crews used ropes to scale an embankment as they rescued three accident victims this afternoon off Gray Highway in Jones County.
Rescuers from Jones County Fire and Rescue and The Medical Center of Central Georgia had to free one woman from a wrecked Ford Crown Victoria and bring her up on a stretcher about 20 feet to the waiting ambulances. Crews also carried a man and a woman up from the car that went down the embankment near Creekside Drive.
Roger Reid, of Gray, said he was headed north on Ga. 129/22 when the Crown Victoria turned in front of his Ford F-250 pickup as the car headed toward Creekside Drive at about 3 p.m. "There was nothing I could do to avoid them," said Reid who was not hurt.
Ambulances from The Medical Center of Central Georgia took the three people in the car to the hospital.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident, but deputies on the scene would not release any information until the families of the injured could be notified.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol helped keep traffic flowing around the accident.
